Tuff Stuff

Note to self:  NEVER underestimate the imagination of this little boy.
So Nico was riding his 4-wheeler the other day and I thought it would be a good idea to put out cones so he could practice quick turns in and out of them.  The only problem was that I didn't have any cones so I put out the risers from my aerobic step.  Well they're kind of flat and the second Nico saw them he thought "run straight over" instead of "swerve around".  Oh well, they are small enough that he probably won't fall (probably) and he's having a great time anyway.

Up and over- at least he has two hands on the handlebars still.

Speed racer!

We finally let him use 2nd gear and now he refuses to go back to 1st.  It's full on 2nd to reverse and back to 2nd.

We took the boys to the pool at Creekside and Nico loved the lazy river.  I love that he likes to wear his hat and glasses too and it's not a struggle.  He even wanted more sunblock.

GQ just called- they want to book him for the 2026 cover.

Yuri's perspective on the pool.  Okay so it wasn't so exciting for him, but hopefully before the pools close for the season he'll get to go in.

Finally an update!

Okay so this will mainly be photos, but we did want to do a quick size update.  At his 2 week checkup Yuri was 12lbs 6 oz!  We also put some sandals on him at the store and he is in a size 2!!  I didn't bother buying any just yet since I remember how quickly Nico's feet changed when he was younger.

Just a little side by side comparison.  Yuri is on the left and Nico on the right.

I was trying to get a shot of the both of them, but it didn't quite work out since Nico looks like he'd rather be somewhere else.

Yuri's close up.  His little face is broken out- the same thing happened to Nico at this age.

Yuri didn't want to smile so Nico was being my camera assistant.  He was doing a great job!

Nico decided he would just pose for me since Yuri wasn't cooperating.

Dale and the boys at the meet and greet.

This is the best picture I have of the three of us right now.  I really need to get out more.

And in honor of Father's Day-

(His shirt was dirty, but it's a larger version of Yuri's.)

We hope you had a great Father's Day!

Our newest addition to the family

Please join us in welcoming the baby boy we've waited so patiently for:
Baby Yuri
Weight- 10lbs, 7 oz
Length- 23in
DOB- May 26- TEN DAYS PAST DUE!!!

Mommy and Baby Yuri- 5 hours after birth

Nico brought one of his cars for Yuri.  Nico has been such a great big brother.  Everyday he's given Yuri a present- one of his cars or a book.  He is so sweet!

The great Cap Nap- We all had settled in for our afternoon nap when Daddy decided to snap a picture.

Nico was showing Yuri how to count to five.  Yuri is going to be the smartest baby in the world with such a devoted teacher by his side!

One very proud daddy holding one very hungry baby.  Of course at 10lbs he's bound to be hungry at any given part of the day.

Thank you all for your well wishes!  We hope to keep posting more as we get the chance.

A man of many hats

Nico loves to make and wear hats and I love to make hats for him because he is just soooo cute.  So last week we had our weekly Kohl's ad from the paper and made some hats out of them.

He is so big!

He took this picture himself.

Butterfly

Our neighbors have planted a lot of flowers that attract all different types of butterflies.  The only flowers we have are the ones that grow on the weeds so we weren't expecting too many butterflies to stop by for a visit.  We actually found a butterfly cocoon on the underside of our bench out front.  We looked it up and it belongs to a monarch.  It is very unique; so much so that it isn't even called a cocoon it is a pupa.  The difference is the covering- this one was a hard jade colored exterior with gold trim.  It was actually quite pretty almost like a pendant that a woman would wear from a necklace.

By this time the butterfly was about to hatch so it had taken on a much darker color than the original light jade.

If you click on the photo, you can actually see the wings through the covering which is the sign that it will hatch soon.

Then and now

When I was pregnant with Nico I flew to Houston twice.  I know that a lot of women fly with no issues, but for whatever reason I seemed to balloon each time I did.  So while I've gained the same amount this time as I did last time (so far within 3lbs) I'm not near as filled with water as I was before.  That kind of leads us to believe that this baby might be bigger since the weight isn't packing on me as badly as it was before, but the pounds are definitely still adding up somewhere.  I'll let you decide.

This was in October 2007 about 6 weeks before Nico was born.

Holding Soleil who was about 7 months old at the time.

Last time I had to wear arm braces because the swelling caused carpal tunnel.

37 weeks holding Nico who is 2y 5m.

Well I guess it's up for debate whether I am smaller, same size, or bigger than last time.

We were trying to get Nico to make a little heart.  It's still cute.

Mom and Babies Fest

There was a fair and we went with some friends; I didn't think to take my camera, but luckily for you all my friend did.  Nico is shown in the photos with Jake who is about 15 months old.

Nico loved the sandbox which really gives us an idea of what to get him next.

Nico loves to play.  When we are going to meet his friends he gets so excited he has to ask 50 times where (insert name here) is.  So this morning we got to Market Street about 7 minutes before Amanda and Jake showed up- I'm not sure how many times Nico asked where Jake was, but I was definitely relieved when they finally arrived.

They were being very good- the fountains were right behind them and they didn't try to go in them at all.

Nico was a little shy meeting Elmo.  We've figured out that he loves to give high-fives though so when I finally suggested that he was ok.

It actually wasn't that hot that day, but the guys in the suits were sweating like crazy.  Some of them could barely see, but it was still nice that they tried.
