In the red corner weighing in at 16lbs!!!

Yuri's two month well check was today and here are his stats:
Weight- 16 lbs 3oz
Length- 26.5 in

Just for comparison, Nico's stats at 2 months were:
Weight- 14 lbs 15 oz
Length- 25 in

Nico grew more than Yuri did in the same amount of time.  Nico's growth in length was 4 inches by 2 months where Yuri only grew 3.5 inches.  Nico had also gained 6lbs 4oz, whereas Yuri has only gained 5lbs 12oz.

Not that I'm complaining- Yuri is definitely keeping up his own pace.  He is still well above the 95th percentile so as long as he stays above it then he'll be on track with his own growth pattern.

When the doctor came into the room he glanced at Yuri then down at his growth chart.  He then said, "Oh!  I was thinking he wasn't that big for a 4 month old."  When he looked at Yuri he assumed he was in for his 4 month well check, but when he saw the growth chart said he was in the 95th percentile he thought- well for 4 months old he doesn't look like a 95%.  But for a TWO month old- yes he certainly IS that big.
So now here are some photos of my big boy and his big brother.

Here is the big boy!

Grammy was making him laugh.

Such a happy baby!  And strong too- look at that head control.

My boys- just hanging out making a mess and being silly, the perfect way to spend a day.

Time for some really big boy pics-
Nico wanted to wear his old hat which is obviously too small, but he wanted to make sure I got a picture of it.  He is so silly.

He even wanted one of the back.  It says "Life is good"

Nico has been taking a lot more photos lately- here are a few of his favorite things:

Until I have more time

I just wanted to post this one photo of Nico holding Yuri's foot.  Usually I see this photo with the parents holding the baby's feet, but I really like having Nico's hand in the photo since he is so loving with his baby brother.

And I don't have sound on my laptop so I don't know how this will come out, but here is a video of Yuri laughing.  (Please excuse my high pitched voice.)

The simple life

It's so easy to forget how simple life truly is.  I love the fact that Nico has such an active imagination.  I'd like to think it's because we really don't let him watch that much tv or because we read a lot of books.  Or maybe it's just because he is so creative that really we can't take credit for it.  Whatever the reason the result is that his imagination really forces me to use mine and together I think we come up with some pretty neat stuff.
Today Nico and I made an airplane.  We painted it together and even brainstormed on ways to make it better- I had originally designed the wings so that he wore them on his arms, but he decided that he wanted to hold onto the strings so we moved them onto the body of the plane.  It was fun making it, but I think Nico's already over it.  Oh well, tomorrow's a new day.

Mid-flight

Headed up to the sky!

Coming in for a landing.

Silly boy!  He was actually chasing me here; he kept trying to crash into me.

Here are some other photos of what the boys have been up to:

Nico pulled out his paints and poured them in the tray all by himself.  He did such a great job!

He loves painting.

A little too much.  I had asked him not to paint because I hadn't washed his tray yet, but he really wanted to so he poured the paint, but didn't have a tray which is how it wound up everywhere.

Yuri is scooting already.  We are big fans of tummy time, but Yuri really just likes to nap.  He is so strong already though that he can roll himself almost to his side and he can scoot himself forward.  He was in the middle of the blanket when he was laid down.

Nico and his best friend from down the street.  She is a year older, but she likes to play with him and he just LOVES her.

He's escorting her home.  It makes me sad to see them play sometimes because I know that one day he'll grow up and some little girl will break his heart and it breaks my heart just to think of it.  Of course Dale reminds me that he'll probably break some little girl's heart all the same, but I'm sure she'll deserve it... haha.

The negotiator

Nico always sees more than one way to get what he wants; thankfully for me his logic isn't always solid...

Nico: I'm hungry.

Me: You just ate lunch Nico.

Nico: Then I'll have dinner.

Time for the close-ups

We are having a very quiet 4th of July just hanging out at the house, what better time to take some pictures of my handsome guys?

Nico is not really ready for this game.

Mr. Serious

For whatever reason we can't get this camera to work without the flash making everyone look pasty, but he's still cute.

A rare photo of Nico and me.

Silly boy- he makes me laugh so much!

Such a handsome baby!

Dale saw this and asked, "If he looks so much like Nico, why are we taking the pictures over again?"  Silly Daddy!  I do think we have a photo of Nico just like this though, good thing we keep their pictures in separate folders.

The boys

This was the first time he wore this outfit and sadly it will be the last; everytime he had a full diaper the outfit became so tight it was hard to unbutton.

The original handsome boys.

Daddy is a truck, or a helicopter, or a motorcycle... his feet were on the "pedals".

Sweet babies

Nico loves being a big brother.  He is having a little bit of a hard time being gentle, but really all that stems from wanting to be near Yuri.  It is very sweet!

Such cuties!

Same attention span

Yuri looks SO much like Nico it is scary.  The only major difference is the skin color.  We think the shape of the eyes will wind up being a little different as well, but for now it's hard to tell the baby pictures apart.

Yuri is now officially in size 2 diapers and for the most part size 6-9 month clothes.  I've really tried to keep him in size 3, but they are just getting too tight.  While Nico is more proportioned throughout his body, Yuri has a long, thin body.  I don't think his legs are incredibly long for his body so considering we're dressing him only in onesies because it's so hot, he has to wear the older month clothes for them to be long enough.  Oh well we went through this with Nico too, but since Yuri started off a full two inches longer than Nico it's going by faster.  We also decided to go ahead and break down the play-yard that we were using as a diaper change station.  He is so long that we were having to angle him sideways to fit into it.  We only used it for a few months with Nico, but we didn't even make it to two months!

Other than that, things are going well.  Yuri has started to smile and Nico loves to have Yuri smile at him.  We are also starting to work more with Nico on his speech.  I can understand him, but he is saying so much more now that some days it is really difficult.  So we are working on his 'S' and 'L' sounds.  Lions like lemondrops, don't they?

Tuff Stuff

Note to self:  NEVER underestimate the imagination of this little boy.
So Nico was riding his 4-wheeler the other day and I thought it would be a good idea to put out cones so he could practice quick turns in and out of them.  The only problem was that I didn't have any cones so I put out the risers from my aerobic step.  Well they're kind of flat and the second Nico saw them he thought "run straight over" instead of "swerve around".  Oh well, they are small enough that he probably won't fall (probably) and he's having a great time anyway.

Up and over- at least he has two hands on the handlebars still.

Speed racer!

We finally let him use 2nd gear and now he refuses to go back to 1st.  It's full on 2nd to reverse and back to 2nd.

We took the boys to the pool at Creekside and Nico loved the lazy river.  I love that he likes to wear his hat and glasses too and it's not a struggle.  He even wanted more sunblock.

GQ just called- they want to book him for the 2026 cover.

Yuri's perspective on the pool.  Okay so it wasn't so exciting for him, but hopefully before the pools close for the season he'll get to go in.

Finally an update!

Okay so this will mainly be photos, but we did want to do a quick size update.  At his 2 week checkup Yuri was 12lbs 6 oz!  We also put some sandals on him at the store and he is in a size 2!!  I didn't bother buying any just yet since I remember how quickly Nico's feet changed when he was younger.

Just a little side by side comparison.  Yuri is on the left and Nico on the right.

I was trying to get a shot of the both of them, but it didn't quite work out since Nico looks like he'd rather be somewhere else.

Yuri's close up.  His little face is broken out- the same thing happened to Nico at this age.

Yuri didn't want to smile so Nico was being my camera assistant.  He was doing a great job!

Nico decided he would just pose for me since Yuri wasn't cooperating.

Dale and the boys at the meet and greet.

This is the best picture I have of the three of us right now.  I really need to get out more.

And in honor of Father's Day-

We hope you had a great Father's Day!

Our newest addition to the family

Please join us in welcoming the baby boy we've waited so patiently for:
Baby Yuri
Weight- 10lbs, 7 oz
Length- 23in
DOB- May 26- TEN DAYS PAST DUE!!!

Mommy and Baby Yuri- 5 hours after birth

Nico brought one of his cars for Yuri.  Nico has been such a great big brother.  Everyday he's given Yuri a present- one of his cars or a book.  He is so sweet!

The great Cap Nap- We all had settled in for our afternoon nap when Daddy decided to snap a picture.

Nico was showing Yuri how to count to five.  Yuri is going to be the smartest baby in the world with such a devoted teacher by his side!

One very proud daddy holding one very hungry baby.  Of course at 10lbs he's bound to be hungry at any given part of the day.

Thank you all for your well wishes!  We hope to keep posting more as we get the chance.
